FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers on what Verdatir is, why it is built as infrastructure, who it is for, and how AI-assisted review stays accountable.
What is Verdatir?
Verdatir is quality infrastructure for sustainability data: the shared layer of rules, evidence, review and lineage that makes an environmental number trustworthy enough to be used without re-checking it. Our first product built on that infrastructure is a review engine for product sustainability data. It collects supplier and product data, checks it against standard and Product Category Rule (PCR) requirements with AI assistance, aligns it across frameworks such as EN 15804, ISO 14067, PEF, PACT and CBAM, routes it through qualified reviewer sign-off, and publishes a sealed, auditable result that customers, investors and regulators can rely on.
Why infrastructure rather than another sustainability tool?
A tool helps one team produce a number. Infrastructure is what lets everyone downstream rely on that number. Verdatir encodes the rule sets of each standard once, binds evidence to every value, records who reviewed what and why, keeps version-controlled lineage and a tamper-evident audit trail, and maps one dataset to several frameworks. The review engine is the first product that runs on those foundations. The foundations themselves are built to serve verification programmes, supply-chain data exchange and regulatory reporting, not only individual reviews.
Which standards and frameworks does Verdatir support?
Environmental Product Declarations under EN 15804+A2, ISO 14025 and ISO 21930; Product Carbon Footprints under ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol Product Standard; life cycle assessment under ISO 14040/44; the EU Product and Organisation Environmental Footprint (PEF/OEF); the PACT Pathfinder Framework and Catena-X data exchange; and CBAM and Digital Product Passport readiness. Because the rules are encoded once as infrastructure, buyer-specific data requirements can be added as further rule sets.
Who is Verdatir for?
Every participant in the chain behind an environmental claim: manufacturers and suppliers who submit product and supplier data; LCA practitioners and sustainability consultants who review findings and remediate gaps; EPD programme operators who validate against PCR and scheme rules; financial institutions that assess disclosed footprints; and standards bodies and regulators who define the rules. Shared infrastructure means each of them works from the same evidence rather than re-checking the others.
Does AI replace the human verifier?
No. AI-assisted checks run across the submitted data and flag what needs judgment. A qualified person confirms or overrides each flag with written reasoning, and every decision is logged against the exact model and rule version that produced it. The accountable signature stays human; the coverage becomes complete.
Where is our data hosted and how is it protected?
Verdatir runs on EU-resident infrastructure with TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, role-based access control, and a tamper-evident, version-controlled audit trail. Processing is aligned with GDPR. ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification are in progress.
Can Verdatir connect to the tools we already use?
Yes, by design. Infrastructure has to sit beside existing LCA software, supplier portals and reporting systems rather than replace them. The platform is API-first for supplier data, documents, LCA outputs and reporting systems. Approved MCP integrations let Claude, OpenAI and enterprise agents call Verdatir under governance, and role-scoped access controls what each participant can see and do.
